Save The Knolls
T-shirt is Here!

In 2004 we all wore red shirts to the Board of Supervisors meeting where we successfully deterred a high density re-zoning attempt. In bright red, this t-shirt is a must-have for all Knolls residents— especially when we go to future county meetings about re-zoning issues this fall. You can purchase your shirt at Save The Knolls T-Shirt

Don't wait to the last minute, these shirts take two to three weeks to deliver! Of course, these t-shirts are not required attire, but they are cool!

Waste Management Contract Negotiation

Marie Mason and Dawn Kowalski attended the Board of Supervisors meeting on 4/9/2013 to address the Waste Management Contract Negotiations.

Dawn Kowalski read a letter that our Board sent to the County addressing the Knolls concerns and suggestions. Click here to download and read the letter. In addition, Marie Mason talked about how the hazardous waste collection for the Knolls was moved from Simi to Newbury Park and asked that it be moved back to Simi, so Knolls residents would not have to drive so far.

During the Board of Supervisors meeting the recommended process for new agreements was as follows: 1). Form a 5 member Technical Review Panel made up of county agencies which will look at the number of service areas, hauler agreements based on the number of service areas;  2). Look at rate methods based on status quo, other methods or a competitive process; 3). Have public meeting for stakeholders, one of which will be in Simi Valley.  Following these public meetings recommendations will be presented to the BOS for their discussion on how to proceed.

The Susana Knolls HOA will make sure we are kept in the loop and let the community know when a public meeting is scheduled. The process is in its early stages but both Marie and Dawn feel that our input was heard. Marie and Dawn were the only two residents from the unincorporated areas to speak before the Board.

Public Outreach – Wireless Communication Facility Ordinance

The Ventura County Planning Division is currently drafting a Wireless Communication Facility Ordinance for the non-coastal unincorporated areas within the County. On November 13, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved the Planning Division’s proposal to develop a Wireless Communication Facility Ordinance that will provide a uniform and comprehensive set of standards and guidelines for the development of wireless communication facilities.

The Ventura County Planning Division will be hosting a two-hour long, interactive session organized and facilitated by County staff. The purpose of these meetings is to receive input from the community on wireless communication facility design and current permitting requirements.

Meetings are scheduled for the following Tuesday evenings:

You can find more information about the public outreach process and other updates to the Wireless Communication Facility Ordinance on the Ventura County Planning Division website.

If you have any questions, please contact Annie Shim at (805)654-2936 or Annie.Shim@ventura.org.

Help us keep the Knolls Informed

The HOA does not have contact info for the majority of the neighborhood. It would be helpful if you would talk to your neighbors about sending us their email address so we can add them to our neighborhood list. We keep the list private (really!) and do not share the email addresses with anyone. We also only send out information about the neighborhood – no spam. If anyone wants to join the list and receive this newsletter and other information about the neighborhood have them send an email to SusanaKnollsHoa@roadrunner.com.

Susana Knolls HOA Meetings
