The neighborhood we love is under threat.
Colton-Lee Developement, a high density developer, has received preliminary approval from the Ventura County Planning Commission to subdivide and develop the lot (the old Horse Ranch) across from Knolls Park next to the Metrolink tracks and Katherine Rd. In addition the developer has also been approved to widen ALL of Katherine Road from the 60 unit subdivision project site to the Santa Susana Pass Road at the Depot and ALL of Peppertree Lane.
The road widening will eliminate off road parking, diminish driveway access and destroy or damage many trees along with property ornamentation both natural and customized. In addition, the subdivision will require a zoning change from rural zoned to a higher density—a change that will set a precedent —opening the door for more high density development and perhaps lower property values. Yes, you read that correctly “more high density development” —maybe even next door to your home!
This project will destroy our neighborhood!
We cannot allow this to happen. The Susana Knolls Homeowners Association has been fighting this development for over 10 years. The neighborhood came together for a Board of Supervisors meeting in 2004 where we successfully defeated a 250 apartment proposal. You helped then and have helped continuously through the years and have been amazing in your support of the neighborhood that we all love!
We need your help!
In March of 2008 the HOA sent a plea to the neighborhood and the neighborhood answered with overwhelming generosity. We asked for a $50 donation from every household for the HOA “Save the Knolls’ legal fund. The neighborhood stood together, made donations and as a neighborhood we were able to fight against this inappropriate development. Without the help of this amazing neighborhood the Knolls would now be looking at 250 apartments or even 160 manufactured homes at our doorstep and having to live with the repercussions of those types of developments.
We need your help again to save the neighborhood that we all love. Please join us. Help us rebuild our “Save the Knolls” legal fund by making a contribution today. We have an amazing attorney without whom and the financial support of the neighborhood we would have lost this battle years ago. To see the great work that our attorney click here. We need to continue this good work for our neighborhood.
