Save The Knolls
T-shirt is Here!

These bright red t-shirts have become a neighborhood fashion must-have for all Knolls residents— especially when we go to future county meetings about re-zoning in our community. You can purchase your shirt at Save The Knolls T-Shirt

These shirts take two to three weeks to deliver. Of course, these t-shirts are not required attire, but they are cool!

Next HOA Meeting

The next HOA meeting is the first Tuesday of April 2014 (4/1/14) at 7:00PM at the Depot (at Pass and Katherine Rds.)

Your HOA at work for you.

The GI-Waste Management contract with the County was up for renewal and there were meetings held for public input. Several HOA Board members attended these meetings – some with Mike Smith from Waste Management and also the Board of Supervisors. Representatives from the Susana Knolls HOA were the only people other than the trash haulers who attended the meetings. You probably noticed the modest reduction in your last bill. The new rate was less than we would have liked, but since it is not an increase, we feel that our time has been well spent.

Santa Susana Fields Laboratory (SSFL)

The Department of Energy (DOE) held a community comments hearing last month in Simi Valley City Hall regarding their SSFL toxic clean-up process. Nearly a hundred residents for the surrounding communities came to share their comments on the process and their personal expectations and questions. If you were unable to attend, the DOE is still accepting community comments by email or letters. You can email them by clicking here or send your written comments to Ms. Stephie Jennings, NEPA Document Manager, U.S. Department of Energy, 4100 Guardian Street, Suite 160, Simi Valley, CA 93063. Whether you send an email or written letter make sure the subject line reads "Scoping Comments". Deadline for the comments is April 2nd.

Community Garage Sale

Hi Neighbors! My neighbor and I are planning a yard/garage sale on Saturday, April 27 from 7 a.m. to 12.  We would like you to join us by having a sale at your house the same day. We will advertise on Craigslist and one of our husbands will put up some signs. Please add your signs to our effort, so that more people are likely to drive “all the way” to the Knolls for our garage sales.

The Live Ride church on Sylvan will allow residents who don’t have a place to set up at their house to set up a table and/or tent canopy in the parking lot of the church. Call the church at 805-306-0042 or me — Chris McDonald at 805-522-0205— to discuss the details and to sign-up.

Knolls Community Picnic

A Knolls Community Picnic sponsored by the Live Ride church will be held on April 13 from 11:00 to 2:00 at the Live Ride church on Sylvan. There will be bar-b-q, jumpers for the kids, and neighbors to get to know. A flyer will be put out and posters posted.

Community Beautification Event

The Knolls Community Beautification Event (CBE) is scheduled for Saturday, May 17th at the Susana Park (by the Depot). This event is sponsored by the county. The CBE will allow us to get rid of large volumes of trash such as green waste, raw wood, electronic waste, and more. Toxic waste (i.e. paint) will not be accepted. Watch your US mail for the notification notice which has additional information. In the past the CBE accepted green trash, in addition to appliance, cardboard, plastic, metal, paper, bulky items such as mattreses, furniture, water heaters. In the meantime you may want to start collecting your trashables in preparation for the event.

Be Aware.

Since there have been reports of several cars being gone through and items stolen, the Ventura County Sheriff would like to remind us all to lock our vehicles and to be vigilant. Report suspicious activities to the Sheriff (805) 654-9511 or call 911 if it's an emergency. Other important community phone numbers are on our website.
