These bright red t-shirts have become a neighborhood fashion must-have for all Knolls residents— especially when we go to future county meetings about re-zoning in our community. You can purchase your shirt at Save The Knolls T-Shirt

These shirts take two to three weeks to deliver. Of course, these t-shirts are not required attire, but they are cool!

Next HOA Meeting

The next HOA meeting will be the first Tuesday of June 2014 (6/3/14) at 7:00PM at the Depot (at Pass and Katherine Rds.)

Community Beautification Event

The Knolls Community Beautification Event (CBE) is scheduled for Saturday, May 17th at the Susana Park (by the Depot). This event is sponsored by the county. The CBE will allow us to get rid of large volumes of trash such as green waste, raw wood, electronic waste, and more. Toxic waste (i.e. paint) will not be accepted. Waste Management, one of the event organizers, mailed notices with complete event information last month. Download a copy of the flyer here. In the past the CBE accepted green trash, in addition to appliance, cardboard, plastic, metal, paper, bulky items such as mattresses, furniture, water heaters. Many other items are excluded. Check the flyer for a complete list of acceptable waste items.

Simi Valley Free Dump Day

Waste Management in partnership with the city of Simi will provide an opportunity for Knolls residents to take trash to WM Simi Valley facility near Madera St. on Sunday May 18th. Please download this flyer for all the details.

Fire Season

The Knolls is located in a wildland-urban interface zone and consequently must comply with fire department requirements to clear all brush and combustibles away from our homes by June 1st. The Beautification Day Event noted above allows us to get rid of large volumes of green trash which otherwise would become fire hazard if left on our properties. In addition there are substantial fines for not adequately removing fire hazard materials from our property. Every home in the Knolls should have received a yellow warning card from the county about this.

The Ventura County Fire Department provides information on their website on how to prepare your self and your home for the coming fire season—or you can download their advisory flyer here.

Most importantly, be vigilant. Call the fire department or the Sheriff if you see smoke or individuals behaving irresponsibly with fire or fire accessories. A neighbor reports setting some wood saw dust on fire from the sparks of a metal saw. When it comes to fire you can't be TOO vigilant.

NIght Skies

Meteor shower later this month.

On May 23 to the 24 the earth will pass through debris from a passing small comet with a unmemorable name. The result will be a high occurrence of meteors streaking across our night skies. The best time is between 11pm (May23) to 1 am (May 24) in the northern skies, although meteors will also be visible earlier and later.
