Help Stop the Water Rate Increase

Everyone should have received a notification of a proposed water rate increase. It was delivered via U.S. Mail several weeks ago. There was supposed to be a public meeting on August 31st. The meeting has been postponed due to errors in the notice and not yet rescheduled. Simi Valley City Staff will brief the City Council on the rates at the Sept 21st City Council Meeting.

From the Ventura County Star:

“The council may then authorize new Proposition 218 notices to be mailed to water customers. Under the proposition, rate increases would be shelved if a majority of the customers submitted protest ballots.

After the initial notices were mailed last month, errors were discovered in them, including a reference to sanitation fees instead of water rates and the addressee information printed on the wrong side.”

Stay tuned for further information.

WE CAN STOP THIS RATE INCREASE!!!

Community Emergency Response Training (CERT)

There was a presentation on CERT and emergency preparedness at the August 4th HOA meeting.

Several neighbors expressed an interest in signing up for the next CERT class which starts in September. It is a 6 week course – one evening a week in Simi Valley and then a Saturday event in October. The CERT classes are free of charge.

If you are interested in attending fill out the application at this link.

Are you Prepared for an Emergency????

There are all kinds of emergencies: fire and earthquake come to mind, especially in the area where we live. We should all have emergency supplies that will last at least several days. VC Alert – Emergency Notification System

Mail Theft and Auto Vandalism

We continue to have problems with U.S. mail theft and auto vandalism. Thieves usually look for easy targets. If you don’t take your mail in daily and leave your car unlocked YOU are that easy target! Be alert and aware!! In an emergency call 911 or contact the Ventura County Sheriff’s at (805) 654-9511

You’re Home Now

Relax and Slow Down

After your long day at work or school, as you make that last turn into the Knolls towards home, it’s time to slow down and take in the beauty and peacefulness of the neighborhood. Slow down and savor the last few minutes of your drive. We have lots of children, walkers, and joggers enjoying the streets as well. Keep an eye out for them as you make your way through the neighborhood.
