At loss for words? Here are some ideas and talking points for your letter writing…

The new CUSTOM density study for the Colton Lee proposal uses fantasy over fact. At the developer's insistance the county is taking into consideration all of the parcels that ‘could’ be subdivided and developed at some undefined and unknowable future--this is the fantasy part; because the reality would compel the developer to abide by the current density.   This CUSTOM density study is a desperate attempt by the developer to gain a higher density ruling.

Proposal for 142 manufactured homes is inconsistent with the zoning and character of the community and does not comply with the General Plan. Nowhere in the Susana Knolls will you find a clustered, manufactured home development.

This proposed widening of Katherine Road would devastate the entire community by destroying many of the oak trees and leaving homes without front yards. Without the canopy of the oaks the uniqueness of our neighborhood would be severely compromised. In the Oct 2005 Topanga fire a wider Katherine Rd would have been completely useless. We are never allowed to evacuate on to the Santa Susana Pass Road as that is the first road to close in a fire.

300+ additional cars through the Knolls is a safety hazard for the entire neighborhood

County is willing to damage the lives and properties of an entire community in exchange for a new upgraded county road which the county has no funds to repair.

Changing the density would impact the safety of all the residents

In 2005 Katherine at the Susana Pass Road was closed AND a train was stopped on the tracks trapping all Knolls residents.

Peter Foy’s pre-election pledge was to allow each community to have a voice in its land use. He also pledged to make public safety his number one priority. Prove it!
